The life-size image of beat bobby PC Bob Molloy was stolen from a Co-op in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Police say a man has been captured on CCTV walking away with the picture under his arm.
Derbyshire Police have been placing cardboard cut-outs of PC Molloy in shops for the past two years in the hope that thieves would take a quick glance and think the image was a real cop.
And before you laugh the idea out of court, Derbyshire Police point to recent figures which show a fall in thefts from stores which have the two-dimensional officers.
But this time they'll have their work cut-out.
