Tory MP attacks 'bonkers' Tory tax plans...

Another Tory has attacked Tory tax proposals HERE and HERE as 'bonkers'. David Wilshire told BBC Radio Four that the Tory plans to tackle environmental issues don't make economic sense, will cost jobs and will not cut a single mile of air travel.

Amid a backlash from business leaders and his own MPs, Tory Leader David Cameron has distanced himself from proposals by senior Tories to tax supermarket shoppers for parking, but has said most of the proposals will find their way into the Tory manifesto.

It would be interesting to know which of the proposals Fair Deal Phil supports, which he feels are just greenwash and any that he opposes.

You give the impression Phil that you support the know-nothings at Easy jet and Ryanair against the need for environmental measures.

You give the impression - and I could be doing you an injustice - that you would prefer the big supermarkets to be left alone with their packaging mania and their damaging planning strategies.

no, none of the above.

just illustrating the fact that the rats in a sack tory party - particularly remains unchanged and unreformed - and that the first thing the 'Leader' has to do when he sees the reaction within his own party to the policy commission report which he commissioned is to distance himself...

it's not me saying that the gummer-goldsmith recommendations are:

1. bonkers,
2. a full frontal assault on tory values, and
3. dumb politics...

1. Many of them are not bonkers at all, what do you think?

2. They are a full frontal assault on Thatcherite values certainly, but by the same reasoning you presumably would do the same thing as Cameron and lead from the centre ground.

3. Far from being dumb politics, a concern with the environment is good box office with voters (OK so voters are shy of paying upfront, but we are not fools as regards the need to catch up on the environment). Severn barrage, anyone?
