Why Bullingdon Boris is not fit to be in charge of policing...

Mayor of London and self-appointed chairman of the Metropolitan Police Authority Boris Johnson is under fire for contacting a suspect in a police investigation.

He's also probably prejudiced any trial by publicly suggesting that it's unlikely any charges will come of the said investigation.

Don't say you weren't warned and warned again about Bullingdon Boris's lack of fitness to be in charge of policing in our captial city...

Boris's 'right hand' quits...

Boris Johnson has already lost two of the deputies he appointed in a hail of publicity after becoming Mayor of London in May - and today the man appointed as his right hand at City Hall just last month has resigned.

According to the London Mayor's website, Tim Parker was appointed from July 7th for a four-year term but he has barely lasted four weeks working with Boris.

Boris says he's not going to risk another appointment as First Deputy.

So now, as well as being Mayor, Boris intends Chairing the Metropolitan Police Authority, Transport for London and the new London Waste Authority.

On top of that he recently delegated his planning powers as Mayor, but then flip-flopped and took them back.

Chaos or what?

BREAKING NEWS: Boris's Deputy Mayor faces sexual misconduct inquiry...

It has been revealed that Boris Johnson's Deputy Mayor was 'struck off' by the Church of England after complaints of sexual misconduct some years ago.

I understand the new Mayor is currently holding a press conference where he says he will launch an independent inquiry into the allegations against Ray Lewis who he appointed as Deputy Mayor days after his election victory a couple of months ago.

As well as allegations of a sexual nature, it appears the media are also asking questions regarding Mr Lewis's financial dealings.

Boris Johnson is apparently standing by Mr Lewis - who denies the allegations - and refusing to suspend him while the inquiry sits.

I seem to recall that was similar to Ken Livingstone's response after allegations were made against one of his key aides Lee Jasper, who eventually resigned after a relentless media campaign against him which for weeks dominated the Mayoral election campaign.

Will be interesting, to say the least, how this story runs, now the boot appears to be on the other foot.

Boris on fire...almost

As Boris Johnson lit the touchpaper for the parliamentary by-election for his seat in Henley-on-Thames, he almost went up in flames...literally.

Now that he's Mayor of London, the Tories have called a three-week quickie in a bid to deny the LibDem machine time to gain momentum. Who can blame them?

Seems the Tories were also anxious that the campaign should not clash with the Henley Regatta!

But back to Boris on fire: From Glen Oglaza on Adam Boulton's Sky blog.

The flames had clearly gone out by the time Boris arrived at Parliament later for his final appearance at Prime Minister's Questions. He managed to botch his question and had to be stopped in his tracks by Mr Speaker and reminded that he was not there to make a party political statement as Mayor of London but to ask a question as MP for Henley...

Same old Boris!

UPDATE 1: I referred earlier to Henley Regatta. It is of course Henley Royal Regatta. Pardon my slip. Those interested will know it takes place in the first week of July.

UPDATE 2:ITV and others now reporting likely by-election date as Thursday, 26th June, though writ not yet officially moved.

Portillo says Boris's campaign was insulting...

'Boris's election campaign was an insult to my intelligence...'

Not my words. Not Ken Livingstone who Boris beat to become Mayor of London last week, but the judgement of former Tory Cabinet Minister and ex-London MP MICHAEL PORTILLO, speaking earlier tonight (Thursday) on BBC One's 'This Week' programme.

It's not the first time in the past few days that Portillo has put the boot into Boris.

On election night, there was little to cheer for Labour activists as the bad news after bad news came in from around the country...

But round about 3am, (yes, i know i'm an anorak!!), I found myself agreeing with Michael Portillo on his assessment of Boris.

He was asked whether he thought Boris had managed to re-launch himself as a serious politician in the Mayoral campaign.

Michael laughed, expressing doubt that Boris would ever be serious...Then, Michael Portillo paid a much warmer tribute to the Tory's bogeyman 'Red' Ken Livingstone, who he described as "a remarkable politician" who had achieved many positive things as Mayor - including introducing the highly popular Oyster travel card.

So as Boris hands out City Hall jobs to his mates, I wouldn't put any money on seeing Michael Portillo in the frame...

Surely it was just a dream...

Sorry no posts for over a week...Just woke after a terrible dream: Tories win 300 council seats and Boris becomes Mayor of London. OK, more a nightmare than a dream.

Seriously, i was so busy working on the local elections, that my blogging had to take a back seat: I worked in London, and after seeing Ken defeated, I went into hibernation, and managed to get through the holiday weekend refusing to read a single newspaper, or the internet...

But I'm back...hope you are all well.

Clearly a lot to catch up on, so, as they say...

Another of Boris's mates goes to prison for fraud...

The Tory candidate for Mayor of London - who wants to be in charge of law and order in the capital - saw another of his fraudster mates go to prison today...

Former newspaper tycoon Conrad Black started a six-and-a-half year prison term for multi-million dollar fraud.

Boris Johnson provided a character reference for his friend Mr Black and urged a light sentence.

It's not of course the first of Boris's fraudster mates to end up behind bars.

His old Eton school-chum Darius Guppy also served time at Her Majesty's pleasure for fraud.

As I posted last month, Boris offered to provide information to Darius Guppy for the purposes of having a man beaten up.

Yet despite his record in these matters, if he is elected Mayor of London, he intends taking over the running of the Metropolitan Police.

It's not a joke.
