How to save millions on teacher redundancies and supply teachers...

Lincolnshire County Council spent more than £2 million in redundancy payment for teachers in the past year.

In the same period, the same Conservative-controlled authority also spent £3.5 million to hire supply teachers and agency staff in the county's schools.

Could I suggest some joined-up thinking at county hall that might just save a few million quid of our money...?

Instead of sacking teachers when schools close or merge, would it not be possible to create an internal 'supply team' to fill in for sickness and some of the other inevitable emergencies faced by schools?

They could also be used as a team to assist head teachers in schools which need extra help raising standards...

What do you think?

What do i think, well lets see of course your 100% right. But your trying to talk to semi politicians in county hall, which can be like talking to a brick wall.

My council is going to save we are told £30,000 by turning off Traffic lights at night, but guess what the £45,000 Labour council golf concession for all officers of the council cannot be removed because well shock horror it's part of the contract of employment.

You have to be honest not daft that council heads are they....

I can assure you in my eight years as a county councillor nor as parish council chairman did i get a round of golf!!

i didn't even claim the petrol every time i had to drive the 90-plus mile round trip to get to and from county hall...nor did i claim the petrol for years on the police authority, nor the £20 an hour on offer.

not all politicians, local or national, are the same!!

Well of course we have people who hate golf, but sadly we even had a golf bonding day for council officials in Spain.
