Half of Tory members in Stoke-on-Trent South have resigned from the party in a bitter inter-factional row between former political allies.
The split involves allegations of mismanagement of city council funds. Authority managers, the police and the Standards Board for England have been asked to launch inquiries.

Why don't you rename this blog Phil. "Tory Problems.com". People might take you more seriously if you weren't so blind to Labour corruption. If this is the only tune you can sing, then it is time for your sleazy shower to get off the stage.
Yeah..what about Labour in Doncaster et al?
Doncaster...yes there certainly were problems there, including of course, the conviction of the Tory Leader.
At the time he was sent down, the Yorkshire Post commented on the difference in how the Labour Party had taken action to deal with Doncaster.
The paper - no friend of the Labour Party - noted that the Tories had not even suspended their convicted Leader. In contrast, Labour had taken immediate action against their own councillors.
All sounds too familiar here in Lincolnshire. We remember one of Cameron's predessessors promising - but then failing - to take action against Jim Speechley, Tory Leader of the County Council who was eventually sent to prison for abuse of power.
michael:
thanks for your suggestions, helpful as ever.
for the record, i am not blind.
on the contrary, i am happy to condemn all corruption, where-ever it takes place.
btw, I am not of course accusing Stoke Tories of corruption. I am simply noting with interest that half their members have resigned from the party in a row following allegations of missing cash...
you appear to suggest that it's not serious and you may be right.
i'm happy to leave it to Staffordshire Police to decide.
