Just watched Tory hopeful for Grantham and Stamford Nick Boles on Sky accusing Gordon Brown of using the Armed Services for political purposes...
As Boles expressed his outrage, the backdrop was live coverage of a video of British soldiers serving in Afghanistan being shown at the Conservative Party's Conference.
Same old Tories eh?

What is your point Phil?
anonymous:
he's saying politicians shouldn't use the Armed Forces for political purposes at the very moment that is exactly what his own party are doing...
something about stones and people in glass houses...
sorry if it wasn't clear.
If Phil would like to tell us what it was that Nick Boles said (I can't find it on google) then we could discuss it.
hi brynley:
Boles was commenting on Gordon Brown's visit to Iraq during Conservative Party Conference last year, suggesting he was attempting to use our fighting troops to score political points...
Of course, Boles didn't think that the video being shown at that very moment to this year's Conservative Party Conference was in any way political.
Boles was filling time on Sky waiting for Cameron to start his conference speech.
hope this helps...
My oh My Phil what is happening to Labour locally;
Bourne Abbey ward by-election (Lincolnshire County Council)
Thursday 2 October
Conservative 760 (41.4%) (Tories were defending)
Independent 355 (19.3%)
BNP 239 (13%) First time contesting this seat
Labour 202 (11%)
Lib Dem 198 (10.8%)
Green 42 (2.3%)
UKIP 41 (2.2%)
Still baffled. I can only conclude that you feel constrained in what you can say by your day job.
